Located on beautiful street in the heart of the charming village of Kaslo, this heritage home was originally built in 1897 and boasts all the character of the past. The 1000 sq.ft. rental suite displays the original doors, trim, built in cabinetry, dumb waiter and bathtub. High ceilings throughout the suite create an atmosphere of comfort and space. Antique furnishings and the tasteful decoration compliment the decor. We have tried to create a space that is comfortable and casual, without distracting from the heritage character.

The home is located in the centre of lower Kaslo, only two blocks from the Front Street stores, bars, restaurants and cafes. it is located within easy walking distance to the beaches, river trail (walking or biking path). the beautifully restored Moyie paddle wheel steamer and the Jazz Festival site. New this season!

Kaslo House This beautiful community holds much in store for everyone. It boasts incredible hiking and biking trails, great fishing, camping and golfing, talented artists and musicians, and the best music festival around. There is no other music festival in BC that has better venue location. The floating stage with the backdrop of the lake and mountains is magical. A great music festival for kids and water lovers of all ages.

Kaslo was the region's first incorporated city, founded in 1893 and originally called Kane's Landing. It was known as the commercial centre of the gold, silver and lead-mining industries during the boom of the 1890s. Now Kaslo enjoys memories of that time in its beautiful heritage buildings, the celebration of May Days (each and every year since 1893), and the S.S. Moyie, a sternwheeler on the shore of Kootenay Lake.

Community pride and a "can do it" attitude are alive and strong in Kaslo. A sterling example of this attitude is the Kaslo Trailblazer Society. Since its incorporation in 2005 it has accomplished wonders. There is an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails in and around the village, including two fabulous bridges over the Kaslo River. The Kaslo River trail is easily accessible from our place.

Here is a little info about your hosts....

We are a couple of semi-retired baby boomers who like to pretend that we are younger than we actually are. We both had "real jobs" associated with the aviation industry, but we quit / took an early retirement from them almost 20 years ago and we have been in the tourist accommodation business (albeit part time) pretty much ever since then. We travel a lot and we enjoy meeting other travellers. The business seems to be a good fit.

We live in the lower level of Kaslo House in the spring and summer months. Our entrance is off the lane, at the back of the house, so our living space and your rental space are quite separate. We respect the privacy of our guests. We greet and meet, make sure that you get settled and have everything you need, then we disappear. Well not exactly, we are around if you do need anything and we are happy help with your vacation needs.

I'm a motorcycle enthusiast so we have and still do travel by motorcycle. We like to escape the short days and the cold Canadian climate. We have spent quite bit of time in Mexico and Central America, where we kept a motorcycle for many years, but more recently the three of us (Linda I and the Suzuki) are spending more time in southern Spain.

If you have any questions about Kaslo House or this beautiful part of the world, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hope to see you soon...
